Swirly Brim Hat & Infinity Scarf

Sunday, January 31, 2016
I have fallen in love with these swirly brim hats and infinity scarves thanks to Classy Crochet and On the Wings of a Dove! I  used the basic idea for an infinity scarf from On the Wings of a Dove, and Classy Crochet created a pattern based on a hat found at REI. I have been making them like crazy, and I admit that I have kept one in just about every color for myself!  Every time I make a new one, I convince myself that I need that color too! Ha! I wore one to work the other day, and one of the students told me I looked like I should be in a fashion show or in a commercial! I gave one to my beautiful niece for her 17th birthday, and she is modeling the color velvet in the picture above. Adorable! I often wear the hat and scarf to add a pop of color to my outfit, not just as a hat and scarf to wear with my coat when I go outside. The best part is getting a super cute hat with a scarf that matches exactly! I get A LOT of compliments about that!

These hats and scarves are warm and snuggly with 50% wool (not scratchy at all though). You may be thinking, "I'm getting ready for spring, I don't want to get something really warm right now," unless you live in Colorado like me. We're expecting a blizzard this weekend, and we almost always get snow right before Mother's Day. Because these hats and scarves make a great accent to your outfit, they are warm enough to wear in place of a coat when the weather gets cool, but not exactly warm, so now is still a good time to get one! I have some for sale in a super cute local boutique called The Owl's Nest in Franktown, CO. Check it if you get a chance! It's an amazing place to take a class, meet for a book club, or have a cup of coffee surrounded by beautiful handcrafted items from local artists.

Coffee Koozies

Saturday, January 23, 2016
I've been working on some new coffee koozies and having a great time looking for the fun embellishments that go on them! The coffee koozie pattern I used is a variation of the basket weave pattern from One Dog Woof. These koozies fit on any size starbucks cup - hot or cold. They also fit a coke can, beer bottle, or a blizzard cup from Dairy Queen. Coffee koozies add a personal, thoughtful, handmade touch to gifts. It makes a great gift for a teacher, boss, coworker, or child. I like to give them with a recycled starbucks cup like the one in the picture. They're inexpensive, but you get a discount when you use them at Starbucks! These are great gifts to give for Christmas, Valentine's Day, or end of the year!
