As summer draws to a close and back to school items line the shelves, I have some new items in Emily's Art Room that can be used all year round to remind you when summer was in bloom!

Crochet Yarn Earrings
These crochet earrings turned out so cute! Because they are made of a lightweight thread or yarn, they are not heavy to wear in your ears, and there are beautiful and unique color choices for all year round! Be on the lookout for seasonal choices such as red, white, and blue earrings for the 4th of July, and some fall colors as we begin to creep up on the autumn season. I'm also working on some apple and pumpkin earrings for some seasonal fun!
Water Bottle Straw Covers
These straw covers are perfect for anyone who uses a water bottle with a straw, like a Stanley water bottle. It keeps out bugs. dust, and debris, and they are super cute! I sell these year round with a stainless steel straw that fits a 40 oz. Stanley cup (because we are supposed to be ditching the plastic that leeches into our food and water). I also attach a charm to give it a little more personality! Here is my pattern:

Materials:
Size E hook
100% Cotton (weight 3)
I used I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby
Abbreviations in US terms:
MC - magic circle
Ch - chain
St - stitch
BLO - back loop only
SlSt - slip stitch
SC - single crochet
HDC - half double crochet
TRC - triple crochet
Pattern
Start with the flower. The center of the flower should be the same color as the part that fits over the straw.
Row 1: MC (leave a long tail: 2-3in.), Ch1, HDC 10. SlSt to the first stitch. Tie off and leave a long tail (2-3 in.) to tie the flower to the straw cover.
Row 2: Attach the pedal color with a SlSt in the BLO. *Continuing in BLO Ch3, 2 TRC, Ch3, SlSt in the same stitch. SlSt in the next 2 Sts*, repeat from the asterisk until you have 5 pedals. SLSt back to the first pedal. Tie off.
I weave the two long tails from the middle of the flower until there is one long tail on each side of the circle. This makes it easier to tie on later.
Straw cover
Row 1: Using the same color as the middle of the flower, HDC 10 in a MC. SlSt to the first St.
Row 2: Ch1, HDC in BLO all the way around (10). SlSt to the first St. Attach the flower now by tying the 2 long tails on the flower through the top of the straw cover. Tie a knot to what will be the inside top of the straw cover. Cut off ends.
Row 3-7: Ch1, HDC all the way around (10). SlSt to the first St.
Row 8: Ch30, HDC in 8th Ch from the hook and in each St back to the top. SlSt to the bottom of the straw cover. Tie off and weave in the ends.
